Who am I?
Hello, nice to meet you, my name is Anushka & I am a London-based writer and musician. I read a lot of books and have a lot of opinions. I am intrigued by narrative and story, and I am constantly investigating these practices through my writing and research, which crosses genres between music, performance, and academia.
I am an AHRC-funded PhD student at London College of Fashion (UAL), researching dress histories of the Chinese diaspora in Britain. I hold a Masters degree in the History and Culture of Fashion from the London College of Fashion, and a Bachelors degree in Costume and Performance Design from the Arts University at Bournemouth. My specialist area is Orientalism & exoticism in fashion and film costuming.
I am a freelance writer and musician based in London, UK.
I write about fashion & textiles, costume in film, exhibitions, and art.
I write music and regularly perform in various musical projects, in voice and on keyboard. I also teach piano lessons privately.
I blog about sewing & knitting over at Tailoring Tales and about thinking here.
I love to collaborate with other artists and musicians so if you are interested in working with me, or would like to see an up to date CV, feel free to drop me a line.
